Milk & Sugar – Tell Me Why ( 2013 Mixes) | Label : Milk & Sugar Records

Rating : **** ( 4 / 6 )
The Re-releases with Milk & Sugar goes on. Now the remixer community has been given the task of realizing the slightly dusted pathetic effort of two Munich. Yes, Alex Kenji & Phonique have delivered their work, well done, really! The not quite fresh Ben Delay who just returned recently produced a Deep Tech Remix of the top class! He is just handsome and even more corpulent. Congratulations gentlemen for the fine choice! | Buy on Beatport
Jason Chance & DJ Eako – What The Phat | Label : Subliminal Records

Rating : ***** ( 5 / 6 )
A release on Subliminal, which does not bear the name of Erick Morillo? I had to look twice and was extremely surprised! The One Tracker is a real big room monster and they made full use of the FX selection! Both guys have earned their laurels and underpinned the value with the release of Subliminal! More of this! | Buy on Beatport
Romanthony – Let Me Show You Love ( 2013 Remixes ) | Label : Glasgow Underground Records

Rating : *** ( 3 / 6 )
The Remixes to the Monster Track didn’t come up to the expectations! The only person who is worth writing here is SJ Sneak Buddy Oliver $. He put down his one- hit wonder status and comes with more than solid productions around the corner- this remix is the best example. Right from the start he is building up very directly, the drum setting is bursting with punch from the first minute. Those who think the remix includes too many vocals are welcome to fall back on the Dub! | Buy on Beatport
Mark Knight – Your Love | Label: Toolroom

Rating : ***** ( 5 / 6 )
Mark Knight is now a veteran of electronic music and on his label Toolroom is a * killer * Track! The vocals are easier and will remain in your head! Arrange & Sound settings are good, the Arrange works well, and it will definitely work on the dance floor! Whether the new track with Mark Knight & Tool, now a hopeful summer hit, (only time will tell)! The elegant part, which is definitely a time of enjoyment is here! | Buy on Beatport - 22 April 2013
Firebeatz – Yeahhhh | Label: Fly Eye

Rating: **** ( 4 / 6 )
I would have been, when there was this before, only when the kick and bass starts… do I know. No it was not, but it must be Firebeatz! After Gangster and some names sticking Coops, but now it should be time for Firebeatz to slowly rise to Mount Olympus. The track is perfectly mixed, extremely deep and up to Firebeatz style… a natural floor filler! I miss it a little, special regarding the track. It is probably just as well that it’s the last thing I have played out in my heart. The set and the drop remains theirs. | Buy On Beatport
P.S. Yeahhhh is a vocal cut, which rarely follows the track that you have to watch! In this sense, TOP and I’m a gangster -> YEAHHHH!

brandniteTV met one of Ibiza´s true Legends – Mr. Gordon Edge in Interview with Host Philipp van het Veld!
It used to be so simple: the musician’s made the music, the DJ played it and the crowd danced. Then one day Gordon Edge aka Trumpetman got his trumpet out and in one soul-tingling, passion-provoking blast, blew the lid off the party. soul-tingling, passion-provoking blast, blew the lid off the party.
“Like every DJ, I’m always looking for Ingredient X –the elusive element which makes a good party unforgettable…that night I found it!”
Gordon, Mixmag
Itza Trumpet Thing.
Gordon’s unique brand of brass-tinged, feel-good house soon found its way into every major Ibiza club, with regular appearances at Pacha, Space, Amnesia and Privilege. Trumpetman is now as synonymous with the White Isle as the golden sunset and a decade on he spends his summers with residencies at world the famous beach bars of Bora Bora. His full-on fanfares fuel his epic 8 hour sets and have earned him invites to play at ‘Premier League’ parties across the planet.
A typical Gordon Edge set is a truly Balearic experience;
Starting solidly, establishing a base, shifting through the gears, teasing, releasing, ebbing and flowing – but subtly and subliminally building all the time towards an epic climax. Providing influences from, tribal, soulful house, jazz flava’s and just the right amount of Balearic anthems, things start to get more than a little horny…
Last year his passport and dance floors were stamped in Spain, Ukraine, Germany, Kazakhstan, Bahrain, Dubai, Egypt, Austria, Switzerland and China. He toured Russia, India and South America, and was invited to appear at Pacha, Sirena & El Divino in Brazil. After the success of recent Indian tours, Gordon was asked to return to entertain at the GQ Magazine launch in Mumbai. Bollywood was bouncing… literally.
Summer 2012 saw Gordon Edge continue to blur the boundary between recorded and live performance, as he unveiled an exciting new live performance + DJ concept which includes live vocals from Tonnic with seductive live sax, in addition to Gordon’s substantial mixing and trademark trumpet. The result; a fist-pumping fusion of performance and instrumentalism with a dash of disco diva…Fifteen years on Gordon Edge is more prolific than ever, balancing his writing and production projects with an undying love of performance and always pushing the envelope.

Edge Records continue to release exclusive content on Beatport, return tours of Brazil, Russia, Austria and Ibiza are in the diary with summer 2013 including a return to his daily residency in Tiare Beach Club Ibiza. There’s 1000’s of DJ’s out there blow their own trumpets but only one who knows how to do it…
Refrains, Recordings, Remixes.
As prolific in knob-twiddling as brass blowing, Gordon is responsible for over 150 releases under a blast of aliases; DJ Edge, Illuminatae, Trumpetman, Edge Test, Trumpet Thing, Digital Domain, Gordon Matthewman & Gordon Edge and many of these through his own labels; EDGE Records, Rabbit City Records and XVX Records which have notched up global sales approaching one million.
Highlights have included the evergreen rave classic: ‘Edge *1 – Compnded’ (1992); (recently remixed by Krafty Kuts), his enormous Ibiza anthem: ‘Gordon Matthewman – Itza Trumpet Thing’ (1998) & the colossal ‘Gordon Edge – Set Your Body Free / Trumpet Funk’, released on Eric Morillo’s award winning Subliminal Label . Gordon’s tracks have also featured on countless compilations over the years, including Café Del Mar, Real Ibiza, Buddha Bar and many Ministry of Sound compilations.

2012 has been a monumental year for Erick Morillo and his New Jersey based Subliminal Records label. It has continued to dominate dance floors throughout the world with chunky anthems, introducing many new names to it’s adoring public and its Wednesday night Ibiza residency in Pacha enjoyed a record breaking season, but the crowning glory has to have been the recent honour bestowed upon the label boss by his home town of Union City after they named a street after him. Erick Morillo has made a huge contribution to the dance scene around the world, from his consistent performances in many of the world’s finest DJ booths to an almost assembly line production of club bangers and new producers that has constantly pushed the scene forward. It’s fitting that his achievements be recognised by his home town, surely there can’t be a better role model to the kids of Union City of what can be achieved when you set your mind to it. We caught up with Erick after another exhausting summer season…
How was Ibiza 2012 for you?
It was a great season for me and Subliminal at Pacha. It was our 13th season and then no sign of the momentum slowing down – each year feels bigger and better. We had some great guests this summer, including Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano, Diplo, Steve Angello, Chuckie, Dirty South, Azari & III, Sympho Nympho, Sneaky Sound System, Shawnee Taylor, Segarra and more. Each of them brought something special to the party. Subliminal is as strong as it’s ever been and it’s clear that house music lives on amongst the beast that dance music is becoming.
What did you think of the new position of the Pacha DJ Booth?
I have to be honest and say I wasn’t sure at first. But after 12 years of playing in the original booth of course it was gonna feel alien. I adjusted after a few parties and got used to it. Like anything, you have to embrace change if you want to move forward. Most importantly I hear it was a better experience for those on the dance floor and terraces and that’s the most important thing for me.
Subliminal has maintained a successful presence on the island for over a decade, when do you start thinking and planning for the following season?
As soon as we finish one season we start thinking about the next. You have to move super fast these days you wouldn’t imagine how much planning goes into doing a whole seasons worth of parties. From the concept and production to the line up, it all takes a lot of time and planning – not so easy when I’m on the road or in the air all the time. But I’m not complaining, when you see 3000+ people getting down on the dancefloor at Pacha it’s worth the hard work.
Is it still important to maintain a presence on the island?
Of course! Some of the most popular and most talented DJs in the world have residencies in Ibiza. I think people look to Ibiza to see what’s hot. You really do have to have a presence on the island to maintain your place in the International scene. For me it’s a must.
What do you do now the madness of the season is over, are you lying on a beach somewhere or is it business as usual for you?
The chance would be a fine thing. I went straight back to the US to continue work in the studio and then toured the east and west coast. Things are a little quieter out of choice towards the end of the year. I have a Brazil tour around NYE and then January and February are the months when I take time out for me. They could not come soon enough, I can tell you that!
You’ve just been recognised by your home city, with a road named after you, how proud does that make you feel?
I’m incredibly proud. To be recognised by the people from my own town is a massive honour, but more so I am just super happy that I can set an example for the kids in the area by letting them know that your wildest dreams can become reality if you work hard enough and believe in yourself. ‘Erick Morillo Way’, who’d have thought it.
Subliminal Records has been a vehicle for many new producers, what can we expect from the label this winter?
We are gearing up for yet another busy winter. We’ll be showcasing T3KTONE, a new production duo who are scheduled to release their underground / tech-house tracks on Subliminal within the next few weeks. Be on the look out for them…

Thursday, October 11, 2012 Union City‘s Mayor Brian P. Stack and Commissioners unveiled a “Erick Morillo way” a street sign which is now located at the corner on the same street where Morillo used to live and where he had his home music studio.
Erick Morillo is finally getting what he always wanted – a street named after him. Forget playing world famous parties or running a well renowned record label, you only make it when someone can actually walk their dog down your self-titled road.
Born in Columbia, Morillo was raised in Union City and even got his start as a DJ in the town. Since then, he went on to create hits like ‘Life Goes On’ and ‘I Get Lifted’, which basically gives the state a free pass on another recent DJ export…Pauly D.
Morillo’s Family, Friends and Union City residents gathered at 15th st Bergenline avenue to recognize Morillo’s success and achievment in the music Industry.
